Denia Festivals (Fiestas)
Spanish festivals take place all year round and great time to have a giant celebration often with fireworks. To really experience a good holiday in Denia, try visit to coincide with one of the many fiestas and really experience the Spanish culture.
Most of the festivals are celebrated due to Denia's great history, for the locals it's a perfect time to party. Please see the list of Events in Denia.
The following are all the festivals which take place in Denia:
Procession of the Three Wise Men
Held at the Port of Denia where Three Wise Men arrive at the Port by boat and present presents to the local children.
Pilgrimage of Santa Paula's Hermitage
A parade through the streets of Denia and a traditional market with food, sweets and traditional Spanish produce.
Weekend before Lent Mid February
Parade with floats, fancy dress contests, street entertainment, activities, fireworks and lots of dancing to live music.
March 16th 19th
Fallas (Bonfire Festivals)
This festival involves burning a huge bonfire on St. Joseph's day and setting alight paper-mache models of 50 feet high famous people. Together with the bonfire are firework displays, music and traditional food.
2nd Sunday of May
Our Lady of the Forsaken
Seamen's patron saint day with parade in the seamen's quarter.
1st fortnight in June
Our Lady of Rocio Pilgrimage
Parades through the streets of Denia with outdoor parties and entertainment.
1st fortnight in June
Fiestas in Santisima Trinidad Street
Outdoor dancing, fancy dress contests and traditional meals.
June 20th 24th
The bonfires of St. John
Denia is lit up with light and colour from the bonfires and fireworks with food, drink and dancing into the early hours.
St. John's Hermitage
This also consists of many fabulous religious events and a traditional market with food, sweets and other religious Spanish produce.
June 28th 29th
Fiestas on St. Peter's Street
Religious events, outdoor dancing and music entertainment at seamen's quarter.
Fiestas on La Pedrera Quarter
La Pedrera Quarter is beautifully decorated to celebrate the parade in honour of St. Peter with outdoor dancing and firework displays.
1st fortnight of July
Fiestas for Our Lord's Holy Blood
Celebrations with parading floats, concerts, sporting competitions, firework displays and bull fighting until they end up in the sea. This has been declared as a festivity of National Touristic Interest.
August 14th, 15th and 16th (Mid - August)
Moors and Christians (Fiesta in Honour of St. Roc)
Parades through the streets of Denia, disembarkation at the Port of Denia, harquebus battle in the castle, music by an orchestra, dancing and fireworks. The battle is a re-creation of battles fought to regain control of Spain using replica weapons and locals dressed in elaborate costumes.

St. Agustin Fiesta in Las Rotas
In honour of St. Agustin and takes place at Las Rotas Denia
3rd weekend in September
Fiesta in La Xara village in Honour of St. Mathew
Parade through the streets, entertainment with bull running in the streets and outdoor dancing with music.
October 9th 11th
Fiesta of the 'Cabrerot' in Jesus Pobre village
Tasting 'coques' pastries with Muscat grapes in celebration of the end of vintage.
Late October Early November
All Saints Fair
Huge fair consisting of many fairground rides, a great outing for the children to experience.
Pilgrimage to St. Lucia's Hermitage
Huge fair consisting of many fairground rides.
